Program Outcomes

Physics, being the key field of sciences, deals with the core concepts of physics as well as their application in different fields. It is a diversified field that gives birth to many other disciplines over the decades, such as Electronics, Material Sciences, and Engineering, etc. After completing the degree, the Postgraduates may avail the opportunity to work with the following:

  1. Able to give a physical interpretation to a mathematical equation and conversely apply mathematics to physical phenomena
  2. Demonstrate the ability to present clear, logical, and concise arguments, including prose and mathematical language
  3. Can represent key aspects of physics through graphs and diagrams, and use geometric arguments in problem-solving
  4. Demonstrate the ability to justify and explain their thinking and/or approach, both written and oral, and an ability to communicate effectively
  5. Make measurements on physical systems understanding the limitations of the measurements and the limitations of models used to interpret the measurements
  6. Computationally model the behavior of physical systems, and understand the limitations of the algorithm and the machine
  7. An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret experimental data
  8. Complete an experimental, computational or theoretical research project under the guidance of faculty and report on this project in writing and orally to an audience of peers and faculty
  9. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve physics problems and the ability to apply knowledge of physics in other interdisciplinary fields
  10. An understanding of professional and ethical responsibility
  11. The broad education necessary to understand the impact of solutions of physical problems in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context, including knowledge of contemporary issues
