Programme Objectives
The MPhil English program intends to:
- Enhance literary competence among students by a comparative analysis of different writers/ critiques, genres and themes in English Literature.
- Analyze the complex interactions and interdependencies of global, regional and local aspects of life in the social, economic, political and religious spheres.
- Empower students’ critical thinking in the interpretation of texts through research-oriented learning.
Programme Learning Outcomes
The successful students of MPhil English Literature will be able to:
- Construe the complex interactions and interdependencies of global, regional and local aspects of life in the social, economic, political and religious spheres.
- Analyze various literary texts and theories of global and multicultural literatures through comparative analysis.
- Design research projects/thesis by employing their critical analytical skills in order to meet modern world needs.
Course Duration
Minimum duration of MPhil English Literature program (24+6=30) is 02 years and maximum three years. Course work of 24 credit hours is required to be completed in the first year ( two semesters) followed by a comprehensive examination and thesis of 6 credit hours in the next year( two semesters).
Admission Requirements
- A candidate seeking admission in MPhil English Literature program should have completed sixteen years of education or 4 years of education after FA/FSc/A level or equivalent in English.
- A candidate must have 50% marks (under annual system; MA English) or 2.5 out of 4.00 CGPA (under semester system) in BS English program.
- A university GAT test will be conducted by department admission committee. Qualifying score for this test will be 50%. There is no age limit for admission to MPhil program.
Note: Merit list of minimum 10 students of MPhil programme will be displayed.
Degree Requirements
- Enrolled Students must complete 24 credit hours in 2 semesters and secure minimum 2.5 CPGA to qualify for research thesis in 3rd semester and 4th semester that are comprised 6 credit hours.
- For degree, student must earn minimum CGPA of 2.50 and have successfully completed research thesis.
